ABOUT
PERTH SKY

Perth Sky Sculpture Park is a new cultural tourism destination coming to the Perth Observatory in the Perth Hills. It is where contemporary sculpture meets native forests, star-filled skies and community imagination.

Opening for public visitation on 1 November 2026, in the Bickley Valley, we are an independent, community-led initiative that invites audiences to experience art beyond the gallery walls into the landscape amongst native bushland and heritage Observatory domes.

Our vision is to present inspiring, thought-provoking sculptures by Western Australian, national and international artists—placing local talent in conversation with voices in global sculpture. From large-scale installations to intimate, site-responsive works, the Sculpture Park will offer a dynamic and evolving program.

We embrace a wide spectrum of sculptural forms and materials. This diversity allows us to present art that is bold, immersive and emotionally resonant.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to audiences. We believe in the power of art and sculpture to inspire wonder, spark reflection and create shared experiences. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a local visitor, or a cultural tourist discovering the hills, Perth Sky is a place to slow down, look up, and engage with contemporary art in a new way.

We are proudly independent. Our curatorial team is not constrained by convention, allowing us to take creative risks and work with artists, who challenge the boundaries of form and meaning. Through a major biennial exhibition and an evolving collection, we aim to build a nationally significant cultural destination for Western Australia.

Our philosophy is embedded in heritage and nature. The Park is as much about listening to place as it is about placing art within it.

Volunteer with Perth Sky at the Perth Observatory

The idea for a sculpture park or trail for the City of Kalamunda was first raised in 2019 at public forums helping shape our community’s arts vision. In early 2024, the stars aligned with the right location, and people, available to bring this idea to life.

Perth Sky operates as part of the Perth Observatory Volunteers Group. It receives keynote support from the City of Kalamunda.

There is also significant collaboration and support from community members across the City and the wider Western Australian arts sector.
